White is the largest single colour shelf we hold — around a hundred bouquets, boxes, baskets and plants — because it is the colour that has to work for the two occasions where getting it wrong matters most: a wedding and a funeral. It is also the colour people choose when they know nothing about the person they are sending to, and that instinct is right.
White Is Three Different Colours
Pure white, ivory and cream photograph as one shade and look nothing alike in a room. Pure white is cool and slightly blue — calla lilies, white tulips, chamomile daisies, most white roses. Ivory is warmer and sits closer to bone; garden roses and lisianthus are usually ivory whatever the label says. Cream has yellow in it and reads soft rather than crisp, which is why a cream bouquet looks welcoming and a pure white one looks formal.
The practical consequence is a bridal one. A pure white bouquet held against an ivory dress makes the dress look grey, and an ivory bouquet against a bright white dress looks slightly dirty. If the dress is already bought, tell us which it is — it is the single most useful sentence you can put in the order notes, and it costs nothing to get right.
Which Flowers Give the Best White
White peonies in season are the most requested flower we sell and the shortest-lived pleasure on this page — roughly May to July for the British and Dutch crop. White hydrangeas give volume for the money and turn a faint green as they age, which is a feature rather than a fault. Lisianthus and eustoma look like small roses, last a fortnight and cost a fraction of what people assume. Calla lilies are the architectural choice and the classic bridal one; oriental lilies carry scent, which is a decision rather than a bonus — they are too much in a small flat and exactly right in a hallway. White roses, white tulips in the cool months, chamomile daisies for something informal, and a white phalaenopsis orchid in a pot when the gift needs to outlast the week.
White Flowers for Weddings and for Sympathy
These are the two big reasons white sells, and they need opposite things. A bridal bouquet is built to be held, photographed and put down — it is smaller than it looks in pictures, tied so the stems sit in one hand, and made the same morning. A sympathy arrangement is built to stand: white and green, no scent competing in a small room, no ribbon that reads as celebratory, and a card that says less rather than more.
White is also the safe answer for a new home, a hospital discharge or a colleague you do not know well. It carries no message you have to explain, which is exactly why people reach for it. The one place white is not the safe answer is a birthday for someone who likes colour — there it reads as an absence of thought, and a bright yellow or pink bouquet does the job better.

Looking After White Flowers
White shows everything. A bruise, a fingerprint on a petal, water that has gone cloudy behind glass — all of it is visible on white and invisible on red. Change the water every second day rather than every third, cut the stems at an angle each time, and keep the vase out of direct sun, which browns white petals at the edges faster than it fades any other colour. Lily pollen stains: shake the anthers out when the flower opens, and if pollen lands on fabric, lift it with sticky tape rather than water. White bouquets start at £29 and a white orchid plant at £25. The middle of the collection sits near £99, and the large hand-tied bouquets and bridal work run to around £600. It is the broadest price range of any colour we hold, because white covers both a twenty-stem daisy bouquet and a fifty-stem peony one.
Do you deliver white flowers the same day in London?
Yes. Order by 10 PM and a white bouquet goes out the same day across London and Greater London, seven days a week, including Sundays and bank holidays. If it is for a service or a booking with a fixed time, put that time in the order notes and we will confirm the window before we cut.
What is the difference between white, ivory and cream flowers?
Pure white is cool and slightly blue, ivory is warmer and close to bone, cream has yellow in it. They look identical in photographs and clearly different in a room, which is why we ask which one you want for anything worn or photographed — particularly a bridal bouquet against a dress.
Which white flowers are right for a funeral?

Which white flowers last the longest?
A potted white orchid, by a long way — it flowers for eight to twelve weeks and flowers again the following year. Among cut flowers, lisianthus and chrysanthemums give ten days to a fortnight, hydrangeas around a week and dry beautifully afterwards, roses five to eight days, and peonies four to six once they have opened.
Can I order white flowers for a wedding?
Yes — bridal bouquets, buttonholes, table work and church arrangements. For a full wedding we would rather talk than take an order through the basket: write to us with the date, the venue and a photograph of the dress, and we will come back with a quote and what is realistically in season on the day. Single bridal bouquets can be ordered directly from the wedding collection.
Do white peonies come all year?
No. The British and Dutch peony season runs roughly May to July, and outside it we work with imported stock that is more expensive and less reliable. If white peonies are the point of the gift and the date is outside that window, ask us before you order rather than after — we will tell you honestly whether they are worth the money that week.
Are white flowers a good gift if I do not know the person well?
They are the best one. White carries no message you would have to explain, suits a new home, a hospital discharge, a thank you and a colleague equally, and looks expensive in almost any room. The exception is a birthday for someone who obviously likes colour, where white can read as a default choice rather than a considered one.
