Caring for Your Peonies

Peonies are theatrical but rarely long-lived — most bouquets hold their beauty for around 3 to 7 days, depending on the variety and the season. To get the most from yours, trim the stems at an angle and place them in fresh, cool water out of direct sunlight, refreshing the water every two days. The reward is a slow, generous unfurling — a few days of pure, painted-on beauty.
