💐 Caring for a Bouquet in a Vase
To keep your flowers fresh and beautiful for as long as possible:
1. Clean your vase properly
Before placing the bouquet, wash your vase with warm water and soap to remove any bacteria. Dirty vases can shorten the life of your flowers.
2. Use fresh, cool water
Fill the vase with cool tap water, about half to two-thirds full. This gives stems enough water to drink while preventing leaves from sitting in water.
3. Add flower food (if provided)
Mix the flower food sachet into the water completely. It helps nourish the flowers and keeps bacteria away.
4. Remove any leaves below the water line
Leaves in the water will rot and make the water dirty. Carefully remove any greenery that would sit underwater.
5. Cut the stems at an angle
Use a sharp knife or scissors to trim 1–2 cm off the bottom of each stem at a 45° angle. This helps flowers absorb water better. Repeat this every 2 days if possible.
6. Change the water every 1–2 days
Empty the vase, clean it again, and refill with fresh water and new flower food (if available). Always cut the stems again when you do this.
7. Keep the bouquet in a cool spot
Avoid direct sunlight, radiators, heaters, or draughty windows. Ideal temperature is 16–22°C.
