Flowers in a Box — Arranged, and Ready to Put Down

A flower box is a bouquet that has already been arranged for you. Instead of arriving wrapped and waiting for a vase, the flowers come set into florist's foam soaked with water inside a lined box, so the person receiving them can put the box straight onto a table and leave it there. That is the whole appeal: no cutting, no hunting for a vase the right height, nothing to do at all. Floritta builds every box by hand in our London studio and delivers it the same day across the city. Hat Boxes, Heart Boxes and Gift Boxes

Most of what people mean by a flower box is a hat box — the round, rigid, lidded box that suits a dense dome of roses, peonies or peony roses. Alongside those we make heart-shaped boxes, which are the ones that go out for anniversaries and Valentine's Day, square and geometric boxes for a more architectural look, and metallic and macaron-toned boxes when the packaging is meant to be part of the gift. Sizes range from a small box that sits comfortably on a desk to a grand arrangement that needs its own side table. Some boxes hold a single flower in a single colour; others mix hydrangeas, spray roses, carnations and seasonal greenery. A Flower Box Is Not Letterbox Flowers

The two get confused, and they are not the same thing. Letterbox flowers are posted flat, in bud, for the recipient to unpack, trim and arrange themselves. A Floritta flower box is arranged before it leaves us and hand-delivered by courier, in water, with the flowers already open and in their final position. Nothing is flat-packed and nothing arrives in bud. The box you receive closely matches its product photo in design, colour palette and size — flowers are natural and seasonal, so a stem is occasionally swapped for one of equal value and the same tone. When to Send a Box of Flowers

A box works best when you are not sure what the recipient has at home, or when they will not have time to deal with a bouquet — a new office, a hotel room, a hospital discharge, a colleague you have never met. It is the safe choice for birthdays, anniversaries and thank-you gifts, and heart boxes in particular are what people send for a proposal, an engagement or a first anniversary. Boxes also travel well as a corporate gift, because they arrive presentable and need nothing from the person at reception. In December we build the same boxes in festive palettes — they sit in the Christmas collection next to wreaths and table arrangements, and go out to clients and teams through the party season. Order by 10 pm and we deliver a flower box the same day across London and Greater London — Mayfair, Chelsea, Kensington, Notting Hill, Fulham, Southwark, Islington, Canary Wharf and the surrounding areas. Orders placed after the cut-off go out the next day. We also send flower boxes to addresses across the rest of the UK, where delivery takes two to three working days and the box travels standing, in wet foam, rather than flat. Delivery is charged at a flat rate and free once the order passes the free-delivery threshold shown in your basket. If the box needs to arrive within a particular hour, or to a workplace with a goods entrance, say so in the order notes and we will confirm the timing before we build it.

Looking After Flowers in a Box

There is one job, and it takes ten seconds: keep the foam wet. Pour a little cool water into the box every second day — enough to damp the foam, not enough to pool at the bottom — and the arrangement will keep going for about a week to ten days. Stand the box away from radiators, direct sun and the fruit bowl, since ripening fruit gives off ethylene and ages cut flowers faster than anything else in the room. Take out any stem that goes over before it affects its neighbours. The box itself is worth keeping; most of ours are rigid enough to be reused for storage once the flowers are finished. Can I get a flower box delivered the same day in London?

Yes. Order by 10 pm and we deliver the same day across London and Greater London, seven days a week. Orders placed after the cut-off go out the following day.

Do I need to water flowers in a box?

Yes, but only a little. The flowers sit in florist's foam that we soak before we build the arrangement. Add a small amount of cool water every second day to keep the foam damp and the box will last about seven to ten days.

How much is a box of flowers?

Our smallest round boxes are £39 to £49. Most boxes are between £49 and £299 — mid-size hat boxes and heart boxes sit in the middle of that — and large statement boxes of a hundred roses or more go higher. Every product shows its current price before you order.

Are these letterbox flowers?

No. Letterbox flowers are posted flat and in bud. Our boxes are arranged in the studio and hand-delivered in water, with the flowers already open. Nothing arrives flat-packed.

Can you send a flower box outside London?

Can I choose the colour or the flowers in the box?

Yes. Pick the box closest to what you want and leave a note with the order — a colour, a flower to include or one to leave out — and our florists will build to that brief.
