Amaranthus features long, trailing tassels of deep red or green blooms that cascade gracefully. Florists use it to add movement and dramatic drape to arrangements.
Strip any leaves that will sit below the waterline to prevent rot and bacterial build-up. Recut stems on an angle under water before placing in a clean bucket with fresh flower food. Keep away from ripening fruit and other ethylene sources, as the tassels can shatter and shed seed. Handle gently, as the trailing plumes bruise and tangle easily.
