How to recognise it

Glossy heart-shaped waxy spathe with a central spadix
Thick, rigid, upright single stem
Spathe surface smooth and slightly waxy to touch
Dark green, leathery, heart-shaped foliage on separate stems
No noticeable scent

Care

Recut stems under water and remove any foliage that sits below the waterline. Keep water clean and change it every few days, no floral food is strictly necessary. Avoid cold draughts and store above 13°C as chilling can mark the spathe. Handle gently – the spathe can bruise or crease if pressed.
