Asclepias produces clusters of small star-shaped flowers in orange or pink, often followed by interesting seed pods. Florists include it for its unusual texture and naturalistic charm.
Recut stems under water and sear or dip the cut end briefly to stop sap bleeding. Strip any foliage that would sit below the waterline. Use clean water with flower food and keep away from ripening fruit as it is sensitive to ethylene. Keep in a cool spot out of direct sun and draughts.
