How to recognise it
- Clusters of small star-shaped flowers in umbel-like heads
- Narrow lance-shaped leaves along upright stems
- Milky sap may ooze from cut stem
- Firm, slightly hairy stem
- Seed pods may be present on older stems
Care
Recut stems under water and sear or dip the cut end briefly to stop sap bleeding. Strip any foliage that would sit below the waterline. Use clean water with flower food and keep away from ripening fruit as it is sensitive to ethylene. Keep in a cool spot out of direct sun and draughts.
