How to recognise it

Slim upright stem with narrow grass-like grey-green leaves
Closed bud with a papery sheath before opening
Bud shows blue-violet colour tip just before flowering
Three falls and three standards typical of iris form
Yellow or orange signal mark on the falls

Care

Recut stems at an angle and remove any foliage that sits below the waterline. Use clean water with flower food and keep away from ripening fruit as irises are sensitive to ethylene. Buds open quickly in a warm room, so keep cool until needed and change water every couple of days.
