How to recognise it

Clusters of rounded white berries along slender woody stems
Small opposite oval leaves, often sparse on the berry stems
Berries are soft, waxy-looking and tightly packed in short racemes
No petals or obvious flowers present at the cut-flower stage
Stems are thin, brown and slightly wiry

Care

Strip any leaves that will sit below the waterline to keep water clean. Recut stems on an angle and use clean water with flower food. Keep away from direct heat and draughts, and handle gently as berries bruise and drop easily. Not notably ethylene-sensitive, but avoid storing with very ripe fruit.
