Dense plumes of tiny clustered florets on branching stems
Colour is artificially dyed – look for unnaturally bright or unusual shades (blue, pink, purple) with a slightly uneven uptake
Fine feathery foliage along the stem
Fibrous, slightly woody stem base
Faint herbal scent

Care

Strip any foliage that will sit below the waterline. Recut stems at an angle and place in clean water with flower food. Keep away from ripening fruit and other ethylene sources, as florets can shatter and drop quickly once mature. Avoid very warm rooms to extend life.
