How to recognise it

Multiple flower heads per stem (spray type)
Sturdy branching stem with several side shoots
Mid-green, lobed leaves with slightly serrated edges
Firm, rounded buds opening to daisy-like or pompon blooms
Mild chrysanthemum scent in leaves and stem

Care

Strip any foliage that would sit below the waterline and recut stems at an angle under water. Use clean buckets with fresh flower food and change the water every two to three days. Chrysanthemums are not ethylene sensitive and have excellent keeping qualities, but keep away from direct heat and draughts.

Other spray chrysanthemum cultivars (e.g. Baltica White, Baltica Pink) – differ mainly in colour
Tanacetum (feverfew) – smaller, more delicate daisy flowers
