How to recognise it

Multiple blooms per stem (spray type)
Daisy-like or pompon-style flowerheads depending on cultivar
Rounded lobed mid-green leaves
Firm woody-ish stem with side branching
Faint characteristic chrysanthemum scent on stem and foliage

Care

Strip any foliage that would sit below the waterline to keep water clean. Recut stems at an angle under water or with a sharp knife before placing in fresh, clean water with flower food. Chrysanthemums are not notably sensitive to ethylene but benefit from cool storage and regular water changes. Keep away from direct heat and draughts to extend display life.
