How to recognise it

Multiple blooms per stem (spray type) with one central bud often removed
Rounded double or semi-double flower heads typical of spray chrysanthemums
Sturdy, slightly hairy green stem
Lobed, dark green leaves with serrated edges
Mild earthy chrysanthemum scent

Care

Strip any foliage that would sit below the waterline and recut stems at an angle under water. Use clean buckets with flower food, as chrysanthemums are heavy feeders and drinkers. They are not very sensitive to ethylene but benefit from cool, clean water changed regularly. Keep away from direct heat and draughts.
