How to recognise Versailles freesia, when it is in season and how to keep it fresh.
Recut stems at an angle and remove any lower foliage that would sit in water. Use clean water with flower food and keep away from ripening fruit as freesias are sensitive to ethylene. Store at cool room temperature rather than very cold, as chilling can affect bud opening. Change water every two days and recut stems to keep them fresh.
6–10 days
Can be stored in the cooler at 2–5°C for short periods, but avoid very low temperatures which can prevent unopened buds from developing.
