How to recognise Seeded eucalyptus, when it is in season and how to keep it fresh.

How to recognise it

Round to oval small grey-green leaves growing in opposite pairs along wiry stems
Leaves have a matte, slightly silvery bloom
Clusters of tiny round seed pods along the stem give a beaded texture
Strong camphor-like eucalyptus scent when leaves are crushed
Stems are woody and flexible, often multi-branched

Care

Strip any foliage that would sit below the waterline and recut stems on an angle before placing in water. Use clean buckets and change water every two days as eucalyptus can cloud it quickly. It is not sensitive to ethylene and tolerates being out of water for short periods during design work. Keep away from direct heat sources to prevent the leaves drying out and curling.
