How to recognise it

Fully double decorative bloom with broad, flat, slightly curved petals arranged in overlapping rows
No visible central disc when fully open
Sturdy, hollow, smooth green stem
Mid-green, ovate, toothed leaflets in opposing pairs
Bloom sits upright on stem, not nodding

Care

Recut stems under water and remove any foliage that would sit below the waterline. Dahlias drink heavily, so keep water levels topped up and change it every one to two days. They are sensitive to bacterial blockage, so use clean buckets and flower food. Keep away from direct heat and draughts to prolong freshness.
