How to recognise it

  • Trailing or climbing vine with small lobed leaves
  • Leaves variegated with creamy-yellow to cream margins and green centre
  • Woody, flexible stems that root easily at nodes
  • Leathery, glossy leaf surface
  • Compact, bushy habit in pots

Care

Keep compost evenly moist but not waterlogged, allow the top layer to dry slightly between watering. Mist occasionally to keep humidity up and wipe leaves clean of dust. Avoid direct hot sun which can scorch variegated leaves; bright indirect light keeps the variegation strongest. Not sensitive to ethylene in the way cut flowers are.

Easy to confuse with

  • Hedera helix 'Glacier' – greyish-green leaves with narrower white margin
  • Hedera canariensis 'Gloire de Marengo' – larger leaves, broader cream edge
