How to recognise it
- Rosette of narrow, arching, silvery-grey or green leaves
- No roots in soil – often mounted on wood, shell or in a decorative holder
- Leaves feel stiff with a slightly scaly, fuzzy surface (trichomes)
- Compact clumping growth, sometimes with a small pup offset
- May be arranged with other air plants or decorative elements
Care
Do not plant in soil – mist lightly 2–3 times a week or soak briefly in water and shake off excess. Allow good air circulation so the base dries fully to prevent rot. Keep out of direct sun and away from cold draughts.
Easy to confuse with
- Other Tillandsia species – differ in leaf width and curl
