How to recognise it

Large single daisy-like flower head on a sturdy upright stem
Broad rough-textured heart-shaped leaves
Pollenless variety so no mess from anthers on petals
Thick hairy stem that may need searing or hard cut
Flower head faces one direction, not fully round like a branching type

Care

Strip any leaves that would sit below the waterline. Recut the stem ends and use clean water with flower food; sunflowers drink heavily so check water level daily. Keep away from ripening fruit and other ethylene sources, which shorten vase life. Avoid very cold storage as it can damage the foliage.
