How to recognise it

Large conical panicle of small florets, white ageing to pink
Sturdy woody stem
Broad serrated mid-green leaves
Densely packed cone-shaped flower head
Slightly rough leaf texture

Care

Strip leaves below the waterline as hydrangea foliage wilts the water quickly and fouls it. Recut stems at an angle under water and consider smashing or scoring the base to improve uptake. Keep in deep, cool water and mist the heads if they look dry, as this variety is prone to wilting. Keep away from direct heat and draughts.
