How to recognise it

Large mophead flower cluster made of many small florets
Sturdy thick stem, often woody at base
Large, broad, serrated oval leaves
Florets feel papery to the touch
Cluster may show mixed colour tones typical of macrophylla types

Care

Recut stems under water and split or crush the base to help uptake. Mist the flower heads or dip wilted heads fully in water to revive. Keep away from direct heat and draughts, and change water regularly. Hydrangea is not sensitive to ethylene.
