How to recognise it

Large mophead flower cluster made of many small florets
Florets have four papery bracts, white in this variety
Thick woody stem with large rounded serrated leaves
Leaves broad, coarse-textured and matte
No scent

Care

Strip any foliage that would sit below the waterline, as hydrangea leaves wilt fast and foul the water. Recut stems at an angle and consider smashing or splitting the stem base to improve water uptake. Give deep, cool water and keep topped up, as heads are thirsty and droop quickly if they dry out. Mist the flower heads occasionally; keep away from direct heat and draughts.
