Dense upright flower spike with tightly packed florets
Rounded four-petalled florets along the stem
Grey-green, slightly fuzzy lance-shaped leaves
Thick, firm, slightly hairy stem
Strong, sweet clove-like scent

Care

Strip any foliage that would sit below the waterline and recut stems at an angle before placing in clean water. Matthiola is sensitive to ethylene, so keep it away from ripening fruit and old flowers. Use a flower food solution and change the water every two days to prevent cloudiness and odour.
