How to recognise it

Single sturdy stem with one bud, typical of Triumph tulip group
Classic cup-shaped bloom with rounded petals, not fringed or double
Smooth grey-green strap-like leaves sheathing the stem
Stem continues to grow and bend towards light even after cutting
No noticeable scent

Care

Recut stems at an angle and place in clean shallow cold water, tulips drink best in cool water. Keep away from direct heat and strong draughts as stems continue to elongate after cutting. Avoid mixing with daffodils unless the daffodil sap has been allowed to drain first. Keep flowers upright as stems bend towards light.
