How to recognise it

Rounded, peony-like double bloom with many layered petals
White or pale cream petals, sometimes with faint green or cream base
Smooth, sturdy stem that continues to grow and bend toward light after cutting
Broad, waxy, slightly cupped grey-green leaves
No scent or very faint scent

Care

Recut stems at an angle and place in clean, cool water with minimal depth, as tulips continue to grow after cutting. Avoid very warm water. Keep away from strong draughts and direct sun; tulips are sensitive to ethylene and heat, which speeds opening and causes stems to flop. Do not mix tulips with daffodils until both have been conditioned separately, as daffodil sap is harmful to tulips.
