Vase life: 5–7 days
Storage: Store in the cooler at 2–5°C in shallow water.

How to recognise it

Smooth, closed cup-shaped bud that opens in warmth
Thick, waxy, upright stem that keeps growing after cutting
Broad, smooth, slightly waxy blue-green leaves wrapping the stem
Red petals, glossy sheen, no scent or very faint
Stem bends and curves towards light

Care

Recut stems and place in shallow cool water, as tulips keep growing and drinking after cutting. Remove any foliage that would sit below the waterline. Keep away from direct heat and draughts, and do not mix with daffodils unless the daffodil stems have been conditioned separately first, as their sap affects tulips. Tulips are not very sensitive to ethylene.
