Tulips have smooth, cup-shaped blooms on sturdy stems, in colours from pure white to deep purple. Florists use them in spring-style bunches and mixed arrangements for their clean, graphic shape.
Trim stems at an angle and place in shallow cool water, as tulips drink heavily and stems continue to elongate after cutting. Keep away from direct heat and strong sunlight to stop bending and over-opening. Do not mix with daffodils unless the daffodils have been conditioned separately, as their sap can harm tulips. Change water regularly as it clouds quickly.
